NEW - OLD HAND CARVED WOOD DOLLS: This is a very unusual set of hand carved wood dolls that came from a Kentucky estate. I believe that they are carved from hickory. They stand 9 inches tall and consist of an old farmer with a pipe stem and knapsack on a stick and his wife with a purse. The man is dressed in brown cotton handmade overalls with a gingham plaid shirt. On his head is a black felt hat. His face features are painted in black paint and his fingers have incised details indicating fingers. His hair and beard appear to be mohair. The wife is dressed in a red calico dress (somewhat faded in the front). She has the same painted facial features as the man. Her wooden feet and legs have been painted black. They are a cute, early hand carved rustic pair! ...................... SOLD
